Before ordering your prescription swimming goggles, please read the information below carefully. If you are unsure which dioptres you require for your goggles, we recommend providing the information below to your optometrist and asking for personalised advice.
Our prescription swimming goggles use factory-made standard corrective lenses. In most cases, these lenses will not exactly match your prescription but will instead provide the closest available approximation.
We offer prescription lenses for both:
-
Short-sighted / near-sighted vision (negative dioptres)
-
Long-sighted / far-sighted vision (positive dioptres)
If you are near-sighted, you will require a negative (-) distance correction or negative Rx Sphere value. If you are far-sighted, you will require a positive (+) dioptre or Rx Sphere value.
Unfortunately, bifocal prescription lenses are not available.
If you have a mild astigmatism, factory prescription lenses may still work well for you, however we strongly recommend consulting your optometrist before purchasing.
Rather than simply requesting your prescription from your optometrist, we recommend specifically asking which prescription swimming goggle lenses you should purchase. In many cases, your prescription will include Sphere, Cylinder and Axis values. While formulas can sometimes be used to estimate the correct lens strength, we recommend confirming the correct values directly with your optometrist to avoid disappointment.
Please let your optometrist know that:
-
The goggles use factory-made prescription lenses
-
Lenses are only available in positive and negative dioptres
-
Dioptres are supplied in 0.5 increments only
If your prescription falls between available strengths (for example 0.25 or 0.75), you may need to round up or down based on your optometrist’s recommendation.
As additional parts of your prescription may affect the final lens choice, we strongly recommend obtaining professional advice before ordering.
Once you have confirmed the correct prescription values, simply select the required dioptre for each lens when placing your order.
Please note:
-
Our factory-made lenses do not correct astigmatism
-
If your astigmatism is 2.00 or greater, these lenses are unlikely to work well for you
-
In those cases, a custom prescription solution may be more suitable
-
If your astigmatism is below 2.00, please consult your optometrist for advice on which dioptre values to select
Unfortunately, we are unable to interpret prescriptions or advise which corrective lenses you should choose, as we are not optometrists. Please contact your optometrist for professional guidance before ordering.
